So you want to be a parent?

My first child was born last Saturday. You may be thinking, "He doesn't have time to blog with a newborn at home." And you'd be right, except that she sleeps all the time. I hope to share with you much in the way of parenting advice learned the hard way and maybe even some gems of wisdom that I learn from parents older and wiser than myself. I have a proclivity towards learning things on my own, so don't expect much in the way of actual wisdom.

Just to prove it to you, Baby L needed her diaper changed. My wife and I usually take care of this individually, but we decided to tag team it this time. Let's just it was a massive disaster. Baby L realized her diaper was off and this would be a great time to spray mommy with... well... you know. Her plan backfired and she ended up in a soaked t-shirt we stole from the hospital (I say stole, it was an accident and I'm going to take it back, or give to my mom to take back.) So anyway, we had to bathe her, which wasn't exactly what we had in mind for her first bath at home. So after all that, she's asleep again. Here's the wisdom I learned:

ALWAYS HAVE A DIAPER READY!!!

Even if you leave the dirty one underneath the child, have it ready. You will need it! Now, keep in mind my baby is a girl. For boys, I'm sure it's even more necessary. In fact, I think they have some sort of product especially for that.

I have to go make something to eat and then probably go to bed. Notice, I didn't write sleep. Bed is a nice place to lay down and somewhere I used to sleep. I'm not sure where sleep happens now.
